The worship band Expressong morphed out of a worship team we were all involved in from 2001-2011.
Expressong was initially called Expression, named after the Saturday night worship events that we hosted.
It became a passionate, infectious and creative musical environment. We were writing new songs at a breakneck pace.
One thing I can tell you for sure is that iron sharpens iron and good musicians attract good musicians. At one point the church attendance was around 150 and there were 25-30 people on the worship team.
With a budget of $300, Expression did a live worship CD in 2006 that included some of our best, original material. That band included some of the best musicians I would ever work with including Corinna Montgomery – Keys and Vocals, Ken Cowie – Bass, Vocals, Jocelyn Schaufele – Violin and vocals, Kyle May – Drums, Greg J. Gay – Guitars.
Over the years, incredible and talented people came and went, but Corinna and I remained a constant. It seemed as if inspiration and creativity only accelerated and eventually, I wrote a rock musical called, “Where is the Lamb?”, to which Corinna made significant contributions.
A lot of things have changed since those days, but the passion and creativity that defined the group Expression, remains today. We were honored to have Ken Cowie back with us on background vocals and this time we were joined by Greg’s long-time friend and drummer, Blair Braun. Add Daryl Wilson’s synth and things can get very interesting indeed.
We wanted to release this new recording as Expression, but since there are already many groups out there by that name, we decided to tweak it a bit and use the name Expressong instead. I always had that name on the backburner for a record label, but it appears now as a band.
So, stay tuned and this mysterious song will be released sometime soon!! We think it will be worth the wait.
